Oh dear - there must really be something wrong with me. I (almost) always liked the first day back to work after vacation. Thanks for the list of good reads! Although I think I lived in a parallel universe because I haven't found most jobs to be soul-sucking, but kind of fun. Maybe not as fun as doing your own thing which can be a 9 out of 10, but at least an 8 out of 10.

I've heard it phrased (in the context of relationships) - would you rather be right or be loved? It took until I was 38 or so to figure out that I was okay with being wrong.

Thanks for the mention! And I couldn't agree more about The Rat Race Trap piece - I have fairly strong political views but these days I keep them (mostly) to myself.

@jacqjolie: Maybe I'm the one with something wrong. Even when I loved my job, I still hated coming back after vacation!

Arguments are not about winning. They are about finding the truth, maybe even when the truth hurts. Yet, isn't it just an indicating of poor morals if the truth hurts?

@Jacob: Actually, that's what arguments (or shall we call them debates) should be about, finding the truth. Unfortunately, I don't see that as being the norm in practice. But good to aspire too, I must say.
